SBMU Officials Host French Embassy Scientific & Technical Attaché

On February 17,2014, Mr. Pierre-Andre LHote, the Scientific and Technical Attaché of the Embassy of France was hosted by the SBMU officials. At the meeting, Professors Zarghi, the SBMU Vice-Chancellor in Research & Technical Affairs, Sadoughi, the SBMU Vice- Chancellor in Academic Affairs, Gharehbaghian, the SBMU International Affairs Director, Shadnia, the SBMU School of Medicine Graduate Study Director, and Mr. Kamanghad, from the Scholarship & Student Affairs Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Heshmati, the Director of the Iran-France Friendship Association, and Ms. Mirbaha, the expert in Scientific & Technical Collaborations of the Embassy of France were present. The two sides agreed upon the following preliminary memorandum:

1-The continuation of dispatching SBMU academic staff (sabbatical leaves) to France for the 4-week training-specialized periods in France based upon the research & educational needs of the SBMU;

2-  The possibility of dispatching PhD students for six months (as their partial requirement for completing their PhD programs) following obtaining admission from validated French academic circles, the support of Embassy of France for obtaining visas, providing insurance, and helping in their accommodation;

3- The possibility of holding joint research projects between SBMU and French research centers;

4- Holding joint educational workshops, seminars and conferences;

5- Informing the French academic circles on the SBMU potentials in order to attract interested French researchers to spend short-period training programs at SBMU affiliated centers;

6- Proposing necessary SBMU research projects to French Academic circles and initiating them here in Iran with the financial support from the French centers as PhD dissertation programs;

7- Easing the visa processes for the SBMU academic staff participating in conferences in France;

8- Reviewing the concept of proposing “PhD students” between SBMU and a university in France;

9- Providing necessary grounds for collaborating with the Iran-France Friendship association with the support provided by Dr. Heshmati;

At the end of the meeting Mr. Pierre-Andre LHote expressed his readiness to visit the SBMU academic and research centers for learning more about the scientific potentials of the SBMU circles.
